I am supporting an office that has decided to upgrade its PCs, they’ve purchased DELL GX-200 (PIIIs) with Windows 98 SE. Unfortunately, now I have a DOS legacy application that I’m troubleshooting. According to the application’s support team, the OS shouldn’t be a problem. It is working on the most part, but the portion of the software that needs to dial out to transmit data is not. We connected a external Hayes 28.8 modem to it for the application. It’s on COM2, the configuration in the DOS program has also been set to COM 2. I can dialout, using phone dialer within WIn 98 SE , but while in the application, through a DOS box, it won’t find the modem. If I reboot the pc and hit F8 to command prompt, then go to the application, then it is able to dial out and work. I see that there are different variables within the DOS shortcut I can play with, but I was curious if anyone has been through this before.
Thanks
