Windows Explorer

my windows explorer will stop responding whenever i'm accessing any of the folders in local drive.
i'm using Win98 with 128MB RAM.

please advise.

Possibility:
You have drives from a network mapped. That will stop Explorer to work until it times out looking for a network connection.

the Explorer will still hang even if i don't login to domain.

Even if you don't log into the domain, it will still look for the mappings to see if the connection is available.
You could try unplugging from the network, booting, and then disconnecting mapped drives.

Have you ran Scandisk on the drive in question? Perhaps damaged files, or a messed up master boot record is to blame here.
