Hi all,
I have run across an unusual problem with a Windows 2000 Server after installing several MS Security Updates. The (Windows) Explorer.EXE fails to start up properly, and cannot be started using Task Manager. It does start up, and a login batch script executes, but then Explorer crashes out, leaving the server displaying the background wallpaper, with no icons or toolbars.
Strangely, the exact same updates have applied successfully to other, identical servers. Using the Task Manager, I have tried to start explorer (file browsing works fine) with no luck – it just won’t start. I also cannot stop any processes from Task Manager. I have also logged out, logged in using the admin user, and rebooted several times – with no joy.
Has anyone out there met anything like this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
