Windows ME and IWill Via Apollo Pro MoBo

by foxja . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have been using Windows ME for awhile now and have recently updated the BIOS on my MOBO to the latest one available from Iwill.com….At the same time I upgraded my processor from a Celeron 433 to a Pentium III 700E with 100mhz Dimms. Everything appears fine whenever I boot up, but after only a few minutes of operation my system crawls whenever I launch into Quake3Team Arena or any application that uses any significant amount of memory. I did a BIOS reset (which was recommended as part of the update) and nothing seems to help. I have even tried underclocking my processor. I have FDISK and reloaded the system from scratch and this doesn’t solve the problem. I have done a thorough system virus check and have not been able to find anything wrong. Is there a known issue with PIII 700E’s + ME + Via Apollo Pro Motherboards? If so where can I find the article or your recommendations? I lost my original BIOS when I FDISK’d are reloaded my system so I can’t go back to test if the flash was the problem. One note that concerns me is my BIOS application indicates the my process code has been updated to .10???? What does this code mean??????
