Windows ME to Windows 2000

By myndkrime ·
Have a Compaq Presario laptop that was upgraded from ME to 2000........Now can not get the NIC or modem to work correctly.....Have installed the latest drivers from Compaq site, still a no go. System senses that there is a connection on the NIC but will not communicate. Have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for both modem and nic, TCP/IP......Any ideas?

Windows ME to Windows 2000

The issue here is compatiblity. Compaq like HP
has all but done away with the easy plug-n-play.
I had the same issue when trying a down grade from win me to win 98. The NIC, Modem and Video card the only one that gave me trouble. Come to find out the version of compac does not support
ant version of windows except ME.
Drives and so on do not really matter it is the operating system and the real compatibility.
Contact Compac and find out IS this make/model
supported if not then you are stuck.
Try to fdisk 3 times and clean install of the
OS (2000) Full version if not you have to install NT and service 6a the install windows 2000 sp1,sp2,sp3. Then try updated the drivers
