Windows Server 2003 SQL Base .DOC folders = Network very slow

by kallango . Updated 16 years, 9 months ago

Hello All…

I Have 1 Server 2003 runing in a Dell PowerEdge 830, with a Intel Pentium 4 630, 3000 MHz (15 x 200), 1024 MB (DDR2-667 ECC DDR2 SDRAM), 74 GB WDC WD800JD-75MSA3 and a Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5750 Gigabit.

This server has Firebird installed, and a database for systems that use.

The program creates files .DOC ( Winword ) in a folder, and now this very slow to build and open these documents over the network.

Furthermore, research in the database is very slow too.

This network is structured (Cat5 + 3Com switches) but even so, this very slow.

Any idea what can be done to find out what causes this slowness and especially how to solve this? ?

Thank you All 😉
