    Windows Update is failing completely

    Locked

    by dlp5db ·

At my job, I have a userthat her laptop had a corrupt windows directory. I fixed this by reinstalling windows.

NOTE: This is Windows XP Tablet edition.

After this my problem arises when I am trying to get windows update to update this machine. I choose all the updates that are critical and start the update. It downloads just fine but then when it gets to the installation portion, all the updates fail.

More Background— This machine is on a network. I have tried this with another machine on the network and it works fine. Any help is appreciated

Have you tried this: Download the updates, when the window comes up select “custom” and then select the updates one by one, the one to download seperatly is the .NET download otherwise select “select all” tab. Hope this helps.

I have tried this option but unfortunatly it still fails. I have already downloaded the individual .net items by going to the windows website and just looking them up. I can download the updates just fine like that but i have around 100 other critical updates that I needs to apply. I really don’t want to find each of them individually. Are there any other suggestions?
