I have searched the internet and have tried everything that I have found and still cannot find a solution. A friend asked for help in fixing her computer. She has Windows XP Home Media Center 2005. When she logs in, Windows starts to load then automatically logs back out. I found that someone else had the same problem. I boot to recovery console and after getting to system32, I type COPY USERINIT.exe WSAUPDATER.EXE. I should be able to boot normally so I can change the registry entry. But that computer keeps logging out!
My friend cannot find her install disks and Gateway won’t sell me a set. What else can I try? The only thing I can boot to is Recovery Console using my Windows XP Home and Professional disc. I can’t boot to any safe mode option. I also did “Last config….” Nothing. Help!
