Windows XP network issues w/ ACT6.0 and shares

By cmuenzer ·
Ok here is the deal, I have a dual core celleron pc w/2gb of ram running xp pro sp3, it is an acting server for file sharing. The primary share is for an act! 6.0 database. It will work fine for 24-72hrs, some time in there it will stop sharing any folders. all shares are down. can not access the server via \\ip address or \\server name, i can ping the machine and it will respond, i can access the inet and other shares from the "server" but i can not access the servers shares from the server, \\ip or name, locally i can co in via c or d. there are no log entries at all near the time that this happens... i am totally frustrated and do not know what to do next. i have tried a new nic and rebuilt the winsock and still can not get the share to stay online for more than 14-72hrs. the only fix is to reboot. i hope some one has some suggestions...pls hlp :)

Dear Chris,
Hope you found a solution.
we have upgraded the pc that serves as an acting server for file sharing to an intel core 2 duo CPU E7200@2.53GHz 2GB ram
running under xp pro sp3,
We do not have window 2003 installed on that pc acting as a server
we were running previously on window 2000 as a platform
We are 6 users, using ACT6, Windows XP professional sp3, Office XP professional with front page and kaspersky internet security 2009
we are meeting several problems apart from problems related to our act software ; delays in opening act data base ,freezing And mails that we receive in duplicates.
We are also sharing office files over our network and we are experiencing a long delay when we open save close delete files in office Xp as well as with other files that are located on a shared source ,
we experience a decrese in performance when we use any program over the network some delays may last up to 5 minutes
What is going wrong?
