Windows XP routing table

by rhuarch . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

Is it possible to set a static route in windows xp that directs all traffic sent to an address other than addresses starting with 172 to a second nic? My local network is heavily subnetted with a /24 mask but they all start with 172. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, but I was wondering if the static route should work the way I want it to if I were to set it up using 255.0.0.0 as the mask. Essentially I’m not sure if the mask in the static route actually has to match the mask my network is using.
