When I try to shutdown my system hangs on the
Window98 screen. I have to power off manually. Sometimes the system goes to a blank screen after the shutdown screen and gives a message “Program error – Pl. restart the computer – Press any key to Continue”. When I hit any key the system shuts down. I have HP 8290 with external CD Writer, external Iomega 100mb drive, Printer and Scanner. I have run scan disk and the defrag utilities. Turned off all sound functions like no sound on exit etc. Shut down problem still persists. Any help is appreciated.
