WindowsXP Home Edition - memory leak

By ciet253 ·
On a new Dell Inspiron laptop with XP Home and several other misc. apps a 20gig HDD has less than 1gig disk space remaining. Is there any known problem with this OS and hidden files, etc.

Not a memory leak

by James R Linn In reply to WindowsXP Home Edition - ...

A memory is when an application is chewing up RAM, not HD.

My 20 GB HD shows a total of 18.6 storage available. With Win XP Professional, Office 2000 Standard and a few smaller apps, I've got 15.2 GB of free space.

James is correct! That is NOT a memory leak!

What applications do you have installed?

Have you attempted to run Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmentor?

Other than that, I'm not really sure what to suggest.

Check your hard drive?

Make a review of your Hard disk, maybe you have more than one partition on it.
