Domain Controller Not Found – Unable to Join Domain
I’ve got Windows xp Pro workstations joined to an Active Directory domain running on a Windows 2000 Server. Some of these machines joined to the domain easily, but we can’t join some of these Win XP Pro machines to our domain. I always get an error message saying:
“A domain controller for the domain could not be contacted
The error was: “DNS name does not exist.”
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAIN NAME
Common causes of this error include the following:
– The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.”
Any ideas would be appreciated. As well as any reason why this is so, since they are running on thesame platform( Windows XP Pro.)
, and thesame methods were used in adding the others that connected easily.
