By HatchingGround ·
Compaq 1.2 processor, 768 ram.I have a WinXp OEM. I put in the disk, it formats beautifully. When the 'puter restarts it after formatting it says it can't access the drive. What an I doing wrong? The os won't install. Never had this problem before. Please, help me!

Thank you for the try int.. but the same problem. The last screen i see before reboot says,"setup will continue after restart."
After restart I get "click on any key to boot from cd" which i have done and it just puts me back to format mode.

The next mssg. is as follows: Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
NTLDR:Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)

The next mssg. is as follows: Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
NTLDR:Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)

this should normally be>>

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)

NTLDR:Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)
means that the xp boot is trying to boot on yr second partition on the same drive

edit boot.ini

try again

Did that, no joy. The floppy drive light is on as if it wants to be fed. Isn't NTLDR the code for no ini. file?
