wireless router

By janwohlrab ·
I have been having problems accessing the internet with my wireless router. I was told to reset the router back to factory restore. I have done this but can't understand how to get it back up to working again. Can you help?
I have a netgear 54Mbps WGR614 wireless router

You should have your initial set-up disk. Pull the power to the modem and the router. Wait a minimum of 20 seconds then plug in the modem only. It will go through a POST cycle. When it has finished, plug in the router. Now directly connect a pc to the router with a straight through patch cable, RJ-45 connectors. Put the router install disk in the CD drive and go through the original steps you took to set it up.

If you use the same pass phrase for your security, you shouldn't have a problem with other devices attaching. If you change the pass phrase, you will have to reattach your wireless devices individually.

When you reset your router to default, it basically scratched your individual setup. As long as you still have your disk, you'll be okay.

Good luck!

Things to do first

by sreevatsamk In reply to wireless router

1. Ru able to connect to the router and chekc the settings ?

2. Connect the modem directly to the system try to access the internet.

Assuming both the things are ok connect the the cable from the modem to the Router's LAN port ( Not to the BroadBand port ) and try to access the net.

Take care
