Wireless Router

By asugianto ·
I have an SBC Yahoo DSL and a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B Broadband Router. One computer is wired to the Linksys and is working fine. The other two computers that I set up with wireless connection can't access the Internet. They can see each other through the local network. Please help!

Since they see each other, the wireless is working. It sounds like the internet settings. Open IE, go to tools -- internet options. Find Connections, go to LAN settings and set it up the same as the working one.

Note: some networks need all of these unchecked.

Have you tried to connect to one of the networks if so do you see the share or do you get an error.

If you have any firewalls temporarily disable them and then try to browse. I would set the LAN settings(IE tools internet option lan sttings) to automaically detect settings. Also make sure you have bridges they can also cause Internet problems.

I would try assigning each of the PC's static IP numbers with the subnet mask and DNS information. Then, renew the IP with the IPCONFIG /renew. You may have to try a few times to get it to renew. Then, ping your router. Once you can see the router, I am sure you will be able to get out onto the net. Don't forget to enable WEP so your network is more secure!

Download the firmware upgrade from Linksys and install on the router. Be sure to configure the router's internet connection type as PPoE and not automatic IP. Also make sure the settings on the wireless pcs are the same as the router. Check the router settings at 192.168.1.1.

Here is your problem, the computer that has internet access is logging on to your sbc account through the router and since you can only log on once per account the other computers do not have internet. You need to configure the router to log on to your sbc DSL account by choosing PPOE account in router setup and inputting your account name and password there. That way the router logs onto the dsl account and gives access to all computers that are hooked up to it. Go to router setup via address 192.168.1.1 no user name password ADMIN
