Wireless with new Vista laptop

by johnmet . Updated 19 years ago

I have a running wireless 3Com router network on an XP desktop PC, we have a new laptop running Vista home premium.

It found the network straight away, but won’t connect to it.

In the router config screen, we have made sure that Mac address filtering is turned off, and that the passkey is the same on both machines, but it just says timeout, and does not help any further.

However, when I connect the laptop to the router by Ethernet it connects perfectly and then the cable can be removed and connectivity remains.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

But as soon as we rebooted for instalation of Avast, the connection refuses again.
