WLAN with Cisco Aironet 1230’s

Our Director of IT recently purchased several Cisco 1230 WAPs. I am a novice with Cisco products, but I was able to get the first bunch up and running. We are currently only using WEP for encryption and I know that that’s not enough. I am the administrator for a NT 4.0 domain, with several win 2k member servers. We have a three building campus with 2 subnets.

I would like to increase security by implementing WAP however some of my laptops don’t have drivers that work with WAP. My boss is talking about implementing VLANS and restricted guest access and I am clueless. It seems to me if all we can do is implement WEP than VLANs are pointless. He also wants seemless connectivity between subnets-so I guess using a vpn would not work. I would like for the WLAN to prompt people for a password, to be able to assign access rights via people’s membership in their respective NT Groups. I would also like something similar to Starbuck’s where a website pops up and asks you if you want to access the wireless lan. Do I need to get more equipment or what? I have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions you might have would be most helpful.
