Keeping in mind that I need to create more than one workgroup coz we have teams in ur office and they shudnt be able to see each other's work.

Can you try forming a VLAN ? Or some sort of a segmenting trick ( using ips and special netmasks ) ? There is enough posted info on this very site . Nobody is a dummy . Those who know network design may be "dummies" in genetic eng'g. Don't underestimate yourself.

As long as the computers are W2K/XP give each workgroup a name different from each other and from the name "Workgroup". Only those users who have accounts in their respective workgroup will be able to access resources in that workgroup. IP addressing doesn't come into play.

note: guard the administrators account by renaming to a different name for each workgroup. Users should only have user rights or power user rights. User accounts should not be duplicated between workgroups. you can secure each workgroup by specifing who can access the individual computers over the network in local security policy, user rights assignments.
