Workstation upgrade from NT Domain to Active Directory Domain

by bds19591 . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

My company has an “old” Windows NT Domain, and a “new” Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Domain. I am tasked in the conversion of users and workstations from NT to A.D. This is what I tried – I logged-in to the Workstation on the NT Domain as a Network Admin. and converted it to the A.D. Domain. After rebooting, I logged in as the User to the A.D. Domain. I then logged out and then logged back in as myself. I created a local User Account for the Domain and made the user an Admin. I then copied everything in the old user folder to the new one. When I logged out and back in as the user, everything worked. HOWEVER, I need the user to have Power User rather than Admin. privilidges. When I change that, the whole desktop changes, none of the programs work, and no drives are mapped. I currently have the user as an Admin., but I need to switch him to a Power User and have everything stay the same as far as the Desktop, programs, drive mappings (they are currently done locally rather than via a script,) programs, etc. How do I do this? Thanks for any help!
