There could be many check out www.sarc.com that's the symantic virus site it may provide you with a solution. However, if your hard drive was actually formatted everything you had is gone. If the data files where only deleted you can recover usingNorton utilities which can also be found on symantics site or www.norton.com which will redirect you there, go to the products page and look for it at the list menu at the top of the page. Good Luck. Two suggestions however, never open up mail or application from anyone your not sure of and ALWAYS make periodic backups to another device.

Sounds like Bye...Bye!!!!,The virus said..

I think you should start from fomatting your hard drive.
then the OS installation
Update your chipset drivers, device drivers..
Install all of your application

Then i think you don't have a anti-virus there coz' if you have one you know what kind of Virus it is. Or you have anti-virus software that is not updated from new virus signature. Coz every day there is a new create virus that spread on net, so you must aware of it....Go on and installAny anti-virus that you know and update it.
We user Norton Anti-Virus 2001, and we download some of the updates at there websites...

When this happens, we recover from tape backup.
Tape is also an excellent defense against hard drives that make suddenly make screaming noises and then quit on the spot.
I am sure you have no backup, because of the question you asked, but I hope this was not a too expensive lesson on why backup is necessary.
All of the talk about downloading the latest virus signatures is fine, until you get a new virus that has a signature that is unknown to the AntiVirus software.
Using Ghost to backup to a spare hard drive is a cheaper solution than tape, but again backup, backup, backup.
The data is much more valuable than the hardware.
Don't feel too bad, many years ago, I also learned this lesson the hard way, when a 40 Meg Hard Drive suddenly failed. (That is Meg, not Gig.)

If the data on your hard drive is valuable recovery software is available at
www.dtidata.com
the software isn't cheap but it works, you could always try the demo first,to see what could be recovered. The file recovery tree software is the one to try.

You could easily use Power Quest's Lost and Found utility to recover your data after a format, as long as you haven't written anything over where the data used to be. So you may want to put a second hard drive in the computer to restore your files to so you don't overwrite them as you're tyring to recover your files. You can buy the software...or find it via other means.
