I have recently upgraded to XP Pro and have come across a problem when I try and remove a program Eg Norton Utilities from Windows. I have kept fully up to date with all of the SP’s and updates. When I click on Add/Remove Program, the dialogue boxpops up saying “Preparing to remove……..” The indicator box starts moving across, gets about 3/4 way across and then stops. I have let it run for about 15 mins but still nothing. Task mamanger says that the prosess is still running. I cancel the job, the popup box says “cancelling……” But this doesn’t work either. Task manager still says running so I end the task. If you try and remove the same or another program the system says another application is still running. I have to re-start my pc to get everything up and running again. I am getting to the point where I want to re-install XP and see if that works but if anyone has any other suggestions, I would be grateful. Thanks
