XP and WIN2000 Permissions Issues

By tmaster100 ·
I have users who on their own network autheticate to a WIN2000 server (Domain Name X-XXX-001) and they obviously have access to all local shares and printers without any issues however when they are interstate and connect to a wireless network the WIN2000 server asks for a password for the user to connect when clicking on the shared resources on the same target server. This is making printing near impossible as the users laptop stalls for some time.

The user still logs onto their WINXP desktop as per usual (with the domain name shown at login) however as the login occurs before the wireless profile is loaded no authentication is made to the domain controller. This never used to occur with the old server (WIN NT4).

The network where the user is have full IP access to the target network and pings etc all show connectivity is well.

So to break down the issue :

User goes interstate on a visit, connects to wireless lan that is on another netowork that is "meshed" with his own network and can ping his server via IP and Server Name successfully but cannot access the resources on his local Domain Controller without a user/pass.

User has both Username and Machine name in OU on his home Domain Controller.
