xp and win98se networking

my xpsp2 systems and win98se systems are not seeing each other, please gove me the possible problem.

check your ip numbers ( use same class C values , can fool with them later ) , workgroup names etc. do the build a small network routine of the xp and 98 on all machines from scratch . if you have a server load dns or wins ...

How are the Ip's getting assigned? From a Broudband router perhaps? Or are they just sitting in the room with a Hub? You don't just have a network cable plugged into both computers do you?
Canhan is corret, You have to have the Ip's in the same group. If they are not being assinged Auto you must do it manually. The workgoups need to be the same to see shares easily.
Also if all of this right and you are just using TCP/ip you have to let the machines stay up for about 5 minutes for them to "see" each other.
