xp home seizing up

Xp home is having win32k.sys with oxc2 stop errors,local repair shop says to reload, don't
want to , would like some direction to possibly
repair.P4 mind computer 256k ram 40gb hd. Not much in microsoft kb to go on.

Instead of reload try a repair from bootable CD.

If it does not work a reload may be the only option.

Find out the type and make of your harddrive.
Go to the manufactor's web site and download their harddrive diagnose software.
Have you done chkdsk or scandsk on the harddrive.
You might have some bad sectors on your harddrive.
