My system was recently brought down hard by a virus. When I tried to run a repair booting from the cd, I received an error that Windows had encountered a problem and has shut down to protect the system, and received a stop error of 0x0000007e, whichdoes not exist in technet that could find. I replaced the hard drive to do a clean install, but recieved the same error. I pulled out all of my pci cards, and left in the video card in the agp slot. Still no luck. I replaced the ram, the cd roms, flashed the mboard and video card bios, and even replaced the video card. Short of replacing a motherboard, does anyone else have an idea as to why this error has occurred, and how to get by it? All drives are recognizable, I can fdisk the HDD, etc.
