XP Network Bridge

By r.devalk ·
I am attempting to place an XP PC with Network Bridging turned on between our Internal Network and the Internal side of Cisco PIX to manage Internet traffic and allow VoIP priority. When I set it up on the standard network have no issues moving between the bridge and getting internet access. When I put it between the PIX and our internal side I loose access to the Internet from all PC on the network. The software I am trying to run on the PC is call Bandwidth Control Manager Enterprise.

Any help would be great.

Rogue DHCP server?

by robo_dev In reply to XP Network Bridge

I suspect what's messing things up is the 'dead gateway detection' or the automatic routing metric on each lan interface.

My guess is that maybe there is a DHCP server in there somewhere? When the PCs cannot connect, can they ping the correct gateway and do they have their normal IP addresses assigned?

You know that you can make XP act as a router with a simple registry hack?
