XP Offline file synch disconnects from server.

By CharlieSpencer ·
I?ve been using XP's Offline Folders on several systems successfully until recently. We redirect all users' 'My Documents' folders to network servers. I use Offline Folders to synch the network version of My Docs with a local copy on laptops.

Recently two systems have started disconnecting from the server that stores their users' My Docs. The disconnects are apparently at random. Only the server that stores 'My Docs' is affected; other network resources remain available.

I've made sure the NICs are not set to hibernate to save power. I've tried disabling synch'ing, rebooting, and re-enabling it.

The only cure I've found is to disable synchronization and leave it off. Obviously this can hinder laptop users who need to access their files when they don't have a connection. I'd prefer to keep their 'My Docs' set to the network, since that way I'm sure their data gets backed up.

Any suggestions on what might be causing this problem, or alternative storage methods?
