Head-to-head comparison: LogMeIn Pro vs. SplashTop Business Access

Multi-device access

The best remote desktop software will allow teams to access everything they need when they need it. LogMeIn Pro and Splashtop Business Access offer multi-device access. Using LogMeIn Pro, users have remote access to their remote PC or Mac from another browser, desktop or device.

Through Splashtop Business Access, users can access Windows, Mac and Linux desktops from virtually any device, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Chrome. Splashtop Business Access also enables access to virtual desktops through VMware, Windows and Azure through the Splashtop Business app.

Another key feature of Splashtop Business Access is the ability for two team members to remotely access a computer at the same time. This is useful for training and for IT teams who need to work together to troubleshoot.

User management

Another key feature of any remote desktop software is the ability to manage which users have access to which remote desktops. Both LogMeIn Pro and Splashtop Business Access offer simple user management functions. UsingLogMeIn Pro, you can quickly invite users to access computers within your account. This includes users that have an existing LogMeIn Pro account and those who do not.

Splashtop Business Access enables teams to invite users too. Teams can also set user roles and change access permissions quickly, which allows teams to easily allow or deny access to only specific computers or all of the computers within the account.

Multi-monitor handling

IT support teams must be able to see the entire monitor display of the desktop they’re viewing remotely. LogMeIn Pro provides multi-monitor display features. Teams can see multiple monitors presented 1:1 on their local device.

Using Splashtop Business Access, teams have access to multi-to-multi monitor view. Users can view multiple remote screens from multi-monitor systems. This goes slightly beyond the monitor viewing features offered through LogMeIn Pro, as Business Access offers both multi-to-one and multi-to-multi viewing.

Security

Both LogMeIn Pro and Splashtop Business Access take security seriously. LogMeIn Pro uses the SSL/TLS communications protocol to secure data. It also includes LogMeIn Antivirus which is powered by BitDefender to protect desktops from security threats.

LogMeIn also offers free licenses for LastPass Premium, a password management tool, with any Pro account.

Splashtop Business Access uses TLS as well as 256-bit AES encryption. Other security features include device authentication as well as two-step verification for added protection.

Choosing between LogMeIn Pro and Splashtop Business Access

While LogMeIn Pro includes several robust features, it’s best for small businesses and individuals that require remote access to 10 computers or less.

For larger businesses or enterprises, Splashtop Business Access is a better fit. It’s more flexible, scalable and includes enterprise-level features such as the ability for two users to access a remote computer at one time. Choose the solution that best fits the needs of your enterprise.
