According to a BBC report Microsoft is investigating how and why internal training videos made by
comedian Ricky Gervais have surfaced on YouTube and Google Video.

At Builder AU we saw the videos a couple of weeks ago on YouTube and thought it was good piece of marketing to help improve Microsoft’s image in the marketplace. However, the short films, called Office Values and Realising Potential were apparently never intended to be viewed by the public.

In the training videos Gervais plays David Brent, his character in The Office, and his co-writer Stephen Merchant acts as a Microsoft employee. The two discuss values in the workplace, Stephen Hawkings, sex, and poke fun at geeks and Bill Gates.

One can only hope that Microsoft sees the entertainment value in keeping these amusing videos online. At the time of writing, the following two clips were still available on Google video.
