Samsung’s latest Android update is making the jump from phones to tablets. The Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra began receiving One UI 9 in South Korea on Oct. 29, becoming the first Galaxy tablets reported to receive the software as an update.

The stable release introduces improvements to Samsung DeX, multitasking, privacy controls and interface customization. While the newer Galaxy Tab S12 series already ships with One UI 9, the Tab S11 models are the first Galaxy tablets reported to receive it as an update.

Galaxy Tab S11 owners outside South Korea will need to wait for the update to reach their markets. Regional schedules offer some guidance, but availability also depends on the device variant.

South Korea leads the tablet rollout

South Korea is the first reported market receiving the update. According to SamMobile’s rollout report, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra update carries firmware version X930XXU9CZJ6 and measures approximately 3.4GB.

Both the standard Tab S11 and S11 Ultra are included, although firmware versions differ between Wi-Fi and cellular variants. Updates are distributed in stages, so eligible devices may receive them at different times. Outside South Korea, Samsung has provided a regional release window. Its Hong Kong One UI 9 update notice, dated Oct. 28, schedules both tablets for November 2026. The timetable applies to that market and remains subject to changes based on device models and rollout conditions.

Samsung’s regional schedule also includes eligible Galaxy Tab S10 and S9 models for November, although their inclusion does not guarantee simultaneous availability with the Tab S11 series.

The tablet release follows Samsung’s September rollout of One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26 lineup, extending Android 17 to another category of Galaxy devices.

DeX, multitasking and privacy improvements

Samsung DeX receives improvements to window management and multitasking, making it easier to arrange and switch between applications. The tablet taskbar gains additional customization options, while Quick Panel changes provide more control over frequently accessed settings.

These improvements build on Samsung’s desktop-style tablet experience. The newer TechRepublic Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Cheat Sheet covers related DeX capabilities, including resizable application windows and external-display support.

One UI 9 also brings improvements to Samsung Notes and additional accessibility options. Samsung has introduced Warranty and care controls for supported Galaxy devices, although availability and functionality depend on the model and region.

Privacy enhancements include a location indicator that provides greater visibility into location access. Separately, Samsung’s Privacy Alerts feature uses on-device AI to flag potentially unnecessary background permission requests. Samsung cautions that it may not identify every privacy concern.

Tablet owners should also check their installed security patch level after updating. Samsung distributes security fixes separately from major operating system upgrades, as illustrated by its October security update. Work-managed tablets may require additional application and configuration testing.

Galaxy Tab S11 owners can check availability through Settings > Software update > Download and install. A recent backup and sufficient storage are advisable before updating. With South Korea receiving the first reported release and Hong Kong scheduled for November, other markets remain the next areas to watch.
