!!! HELP !!! - Microsoft Office Applications hanging up system

By estela ·
I have MS Office 2000, installed on my Windows.XP workstation. First, My Computer would stop responding when I would try to access any of my drives. When I would End Task, my screen would flash a couple of times, then reset. Then yesterday afternoon, Microsoft Outlook and Excel quit responding, and would freeze everytime I tried to access any folder other than My Documents to edit or attach files. I tried using MS Outlook's Detect and Repair, but that only completly reset Outlook and deleted my account. I had to import my backup.pst file. Today, Outlook wasn't downloading my mail from the server and continued to freeze up. THEN!!! it started this little dilemma: Outlook would freeze, I would end task, not send report, and close outlook; and try to restart/reboot PC. I keep getting a message to close all Microsoft Application. !!!Hello!!!, They are closed!!!

I have run disk cleanup, disk defragmenter, spybot search and destroy, Ad-Aware, and TrendMicro Office Scan(no problems found)

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, advice, solutions that I can use to fix this little problem? My workstation is a very important PC at my small organization(2-Man - soon to be 1-man IT Dept), and my IT Guru supervisor is leaving Friday, and has bigger issues to resolve before then.

PLEASE ....Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.
