Cell phone provider call logs
Lockedby Hakusho086 · about 4 months, 1 week ago

So I had someone call me with their number and their name showing up. When I look at my monthly bill with verizon, that number does not come up at all.
I can literally go through my phone history on my phone and find the exact time, date, number and name and screen shot it.
Why would it not be showing on my phone bill call history?
I was thinking they used a app like whatsapp or google voice but are their any apples phone apps? I know with whatsapp and google voice your name may or may not pop but your actual telephone number definitely will not show.
Anybody able to help?

Can I assume that you do receive a monthly statement (postpaid) instead of prepaid service? Can you view your call log online? I was a CS rep for At&t since 2001 and I am very familiar with these types of questions. In the past, all carriers stopped automatically sending detailed billing and reverted to listing only calls that were either billed long distance and/or roaming (domestic or international) charges. Customers who wanted detailed billing every month were charged an additional monthly fee and probably it can still be requested if it is important to you. It isn’t an app you can download to your phone because it is tied directly to your carrier’s billing system. Your phone can store phone records if the caller ID does display but that is not guaranteed.
Is there a particular concern? We used to send out detailed billing reports if a customer requested them but they were about $1/page if needed unless a court order was issued for those records.

Your call history only mentions your own calls, not from calls you received. The name isn’t sent with the call, but comes from your own phone, most likely your address book or contacts or whatever it’s called.

Yes I need it for court because they would want an official document but they could use my phone. I spoke to two different people with one saying they didn’t know and the other saying that they don’t notate phone calls that are made through wifi which isn’t true to me.
Basically my phone shows I was called multiple times with the persons name and phone number but the monthly billing statement is showing that the person never called. No one can give me an answer to why.

Thank you for clarifying that it is related to a court request. In that case, the court will need to contact your provider directly to subpoena those records. Don’t try requesting it yourself. Follow the directions from the court and let them do their job. I do wish you the best, just trying to offer my personal experience as a former customer service rep from At&t from my prior eperience.
You might find more detailed information yourself online but apart from that, there is no alternative method from a customer standpoint.

So the other part is that my job needs it. I do not think it will get to the point that the court will ask but how can I get a more detailed report for my job.

Ask your provider if they can add detailed billing to your monthly statement. If you need past records, you may need to pay for them to be reprinted and sent to you. Best wishes.
Just curious, who is your cellular provider? Prepaid or postpaid?

I was just thinking this. Is there a more detailed report than what I get automatically at the end of my billing cycle? is there a difference between I can access and what the courts can get?

Your first question can only be answered by your provider. I assume there is more data in their database than they show on your monthly report, but that doesn’t mean that they willing you make a custom report for you .
The answer to your second question is simple: neither you nor the courts can access anything. Only your provider can.

so the name and number both show on my phone. It does not show on my bill cycle call log history. If someone used a VolP service or internet calling app would their Name and original phone number show up or would it show a completely different number?

The number shown is the number that’s given by the device or service that connects to the net. So you would have to ask the owner of that device what it uses.
The name is never sent across the net. Your provider Verizon doesn’t know the names of people or companies that call you, if they have a different provider. And I wonder if they log the number of such people or companies, although they know it during the call. After all, it’s none of their business.
In this case, the court should ask the provider of the person who called you.

It’s not unusual for discrepancies to occur between your phone’s call history and your monthly bill. There could be several reasons for this, such as the use of third-party apps like WhatsApp or Google Voice, which may not register on your bill. Additionally, some calls, especially if they’re international or made over Wi-Fi, might not appear on your statement. It’s worth contacting your provider for clarification.

It’s possible that the call you received was made using a service or app that doesn’t rely on traditional cellular networks, such as WhatsApp, Google Voice, or even FaceTime Audio. These services use data or internet connections to make calls, bypassing the need for traditional phone numbers.
If the call was made using one of these services, it wouldn’t show up on your Verizon call history because it wasn’t routed through Verizon’s network. Instead, it would appear within the app’s call log or history.
To confirm whether the call was made using such a service, you can check the call history or logs within any messaging or calling apps installed on your phone, such as WhatsApp, Google Voice, or FaceTime. If you find the call in one of these apps’ logs, it suggests that the call was made through that app rather than through your cellular network.
If you’re still uncertain or have further questions, reaching out to your service provider’s customer support might provide more clarity. They may be able to provide insights into any discrepancies between your phone’s call log and your Verizon bill.
