Question

Hlp files in Windows 7

I am trying to view a .hlp file installed on my Windows 7 / 64-bit PC. There is or was a WinHlp32.exe available from Microsoft but it seems not for W7 64 bit systems (even though the impression is given that there is a 64 bit version). The WinHlp32 file in question is downloaded on my PC but when I try to run it it says that it is incompatible.

If this is just not possible I was wondering if there was an option to "convert" the format to something that W7 could read.

If you want to open Hlp file extensions, you must download and install the program (WinHlp32.exe) file from the official site of Microsoft Download Center.

I think you will find, as I did, that this does not actually work (at least not for 64-bit PC's) because MS has withdrawn support for Windows 7.

Seems MSFT has pulled the download.

You might try searching the web for a 64 bit version.
