IE Access limited

By AndeAnderson ·
We just finished installing a new Dell Server with SBS 2003 and we are using a Firebox SOHO 6 router for the firewall.

After getting everything set-up and running I went back and was double checking the work stations and found that four of them no longer have Internet access.

Three are XP Pro and one is a Win 98SE Laptop.

I double checked all of the settings, released and renewed the IPCONFIG on them. I can ping the firewall but can not access or ping anything beyond it with these four machines.

The other four machines are working just fine.

Thanks for any assistance I can get.

Check gateway address in TCP/IP settings. Compare to 4 that will connect.

1. Make sure that any personal firewalls are disabled especially on the XP machines and that the IP and DNS settings are correct.

2. Sounds like there is a NAT pool on the FW that s not large enough for all of your workstations. Might switch to PAT.

Are you using any kind of proxy? If so do you have enough licenses? Might need some additional information. If you release on of the working workstations IP addresses and hard code on a non working machine does the machine have internet access?

Try Reboot your firewall!!!

That worked. But, what a poor set-up. Why would the Firewall permanently store specific IP addresses in a DHCP environment?
