software needs admin access

By jarif93 ·
I have some applications which need administrator or power users access.
other wise the applications will not run.
I do not want users to have admin/power users
Is there a way round this?
we are running windows XP.
or is there a way round any application which needs admin/power users access.

it is permissions on either the install folder or the registry entries or both. often the way is to find the registry keys and change permissions on them. the error messages might help you and the application mfg website might have fix also

also, in addition to Sgt Shultzs suggestion, you could make an installer software package for deployment, then have that package available to users via add/remove programs.

I've had a similar experience. The only solution I have found was to create a special network user for that particular software (i.e. user name "software" ) and assigned that user as a local admin (administrator of the PC that will run the software) This way you only risk that particular PC, but the user will have ordinary user rights over the network.
