Terminal Server

By PMidnite ·
I have remote sites using RDP on 98 machines that are running their applications from the Terminal Server. Each of them are being "reset" maybe 2 or 3 times a day. All of them at the same time. I have checked all the timeout settings and have all of them disabled or set to a high number. Is there something in the Windows Server 2003 registry i need to look at?

How are your remote clients connected to the internet? Are they all at the same remote site? I have found that my remote users also get disconnected on occasion ... sometimes more frequently than other and (I'm told) that it is related to the connection speed. When you initially connect to the TS at a certain speed and the speed on the line drops, it results in a disconnection. You may want to test this theory out by having another client connect from a totally different site and see if the disconnection problem occurs for both sites or only one. Aside from having a dedicated line (expensive) it may be something you have to live with... otherwise, I'd also appreciate some help.

What really made a huge difference was i put another small switch to serve as a "buffer" so to speak between my firewall and the cable modem. Before, the cable modem went straight to the firewall port and the firewall into my switch. Now, the cable modem and the firewall go to this small switch and the small switch plugs into the main switch. My problem went away. No one from Cisco, Adtran, Sonicwall, etc. could help. I found this (like many issues) from "process of elimination".
