This is for Shellbot

You may know this one... I have a server that has SQL2000 on it. The OS install was overwritten by mistake during a failed drive replacement. I don't have a backup of the master db, but the database itself is okay because it was on a separate RAID array. Is there a way to restore the users from the db into the master db?

never had to deal with that..I've always had a backup!

To be honest, I don't know...

Recreate the master and then attach the database?

Hows it workin out?

by Shellbot In reply to This is for Shellbot

Any joy?

If not..can you clarify "don't have a backup of the master db, but the database itself is okay "

Did you lose the master Db or not?

Yipee!!!!!!

I found a backup copy of the master db hidden away on a drive (whohoooooooo!!!!) But I still do not have the transaction logs for the database, they are gone forever (DAMN RAID array failures).... But from what I have read, that is not a major issue.

I am now restoring SQL server to the correct version to restore the master db now.
