Samsung is giving the Galaxy S26 family another turn in the spotlight, with a new phone launch set for next week.
The tech giant confirmed Wednesday that it will host its online-only “Galaxy Event August 2026” on Aug. 27. The presentation kicks off at 8 a.m. Eastern Time (9 p.m. KST/12 p.m. UTC) and will stream live across Samsung.com, the Samsung Members App, and Samsung’s official YouTube channel.
While the company did not state the model name outright, its official invitation confirmed the debut of the “newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family.” The device is “purposefully designed to bring many Galaxy S26 experiences from camera to AI1, along with the latest One UI, to those who look for what truly matters most to them,” according to Samsung.
What the rumors and leaks show
Industry reports point squarely to the Galaxy S26 FE (Fan Edition).
Leaks indicate the smartphone will feature:
- A 6.7-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- An Exynos 2500 processor.
- A 4,900 mAh battery with 45W wired charging support.
- A triple rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera, alongside a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
- An IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, with expected color finishes in Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio.
According to SamMobile, the device is rumored to carry a price tag around $799, placing it roughly $100 below the standard Galaxy S26. In addition, an EU EPREL listing spotted by GSMArena revealed an “A” rating for drop resistance and energy efficiency, but gave the device a “C” grade for repairability.

Will the Galaxy S26 FE be worth the savings?
The biggest question may be whether Samsung leaves enough of a gap between the Galaxy S26 FE and the standard Galaxy S26 to make the cheaper model compelling.
If the rumored $799 price holds, the FE would sit roughly $100 below the standard Galaxy S26. That could make the phone attractive to buyers who want many of Samsung’s flagship features at a lower price, but the relatively narrow price gap may also make discounted S26 models a tempting alternative. Final pricing, materials, performance, and regional availability will ultimately determine how much value the FE offers.
Samsung’s Aug. 27 event should settle some of those questions. It will also give buyers a clearer picture of whether the Galaxy S26 FE fills a meaningful gap in Samsung’s lineup or simply adds another option to an already crowded range.
The timing is notable as well. With IFA 2026 approaching in Berlin, Samsung appears positioned to give its new Galaxy phone a dedicated news cycle before attention shifts to the broader wave of September device announcements.
