ASUS monitor - DVI no signal

When at home, I usually plug my laptop (Lenovo Z560) into the internet and monitor/keyboard/mouse setup my husband arranged for me. He is out of the country on business and difficult to reach for help and advice. Yesterday, everything was working fine. Today, when I plug my laptop in, the ASUS monitor does nothing, and the light down in the righthand corner remains orange. When I try turning the monitor light off and back on again, the monitor the power light turns blue and the screen reads "DVI No Signal" for a moment, then the light turns orange and then the screen goes black. Can anyone help me with what I need to do to get things working again like they were yesterday?! Thank you.

DVI No Signal

The connector end may not be communicating so try using a vga cable if you have an extra cable around and plug it in(cable has blue connectors)
The other option would be to locate the buttons on the monitor when the system boots up use the button that switches the monitor cable it will show on the screen switch from HDMI to VGA, if this fails wait for hubby to get back
