Barebone

By magarcia ·
Hello, I have an VCR, one DVD and a digital satellite receiver. I need to buy DTT. My idea is to buy a media center or barebone. I need a DVD, not problem, DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) and TV analogical, and satellite TV. I'd like to know if I can replace my DVD, my digital satellite receiver, the DTT with a barebone o media center. I'd like to see a program and record another.
Thank you.

I'd like to know if I can replace my DVD,

Yes easily by buying a system with a DVD Burner in it.

my digital satellite receiver

No you need this to feed the Media Centre Video Input Card/s as without the decoder you can not view the programs being broadcast.

the DTT with a barebone o media center

Yes but you'll need at least one of the many different types of Video Capture Cards approved by M$ for Media Centre. If I remember correctly they can take 3 inputs 2 Analog and one digital. You'll also need to buy the USB Remote Unit for Media Centre if you want the ability to record one chanel while watching another.

Full details of Media Centre are available here

Thank for your answer. One question about digital satellite receiver, do you know the card SKYSTAR 2 TV? I think I can change my digital satellite receiver by this card.
Best regards.

Sorry I don't know that card

But you would have to check with your Satellite Provider to see if it's supported.

Quite often these Set Top Boxes get a new activation code about once a month to allow you to keep watching and stop those who haven't paid the bill so you would need to see if that option is supported by this card. As Satellite TV isn't very big here I haven't seen these cards and I only see Satellite Set Top Boxes in the more remote areas where it's cheaper for the providers to supply TV from Satellite rather than from Cable which hasn't been run into that area yet.
