Display problems

I had to reinstall win98se, now my monitor will only stay in the 16 colors and 640 x 490 pixels, I have tried resetting, but it won’t go there, I also do not have in the display properties box,I do not have change display settings. Help!

The default for any startup is 16 colour.
You have to change and load the correct driver to make it work . Try going to the vendor site and check the correct display driver for your model.

It sounds as if the re-installation of win98 has lost your display drivers. You will have to re-intall the driver again- Find out the name and model of your Monitor, and try locate the drivers either through the manufacturers web site, or from the package the computer came with.
It may also be worth it to check device manager, incase of any other problems.

In the Display Properties dialog box under the Settings tab click the advanced button. Under the Monitor tab you can change the driver. Select the correct driver (if you have the driver disk that would be the best). This may help you fix your problem. It has helped me quite a few times.

Right click my computer, then properties.
Select Device Manager
Look at your display adapters, do you have more then one loaded?
