    mapping lpt1 by net use command in xp

    i have windows environment.my client computers were using win2000 i have now winxp clients also .clients use
    “net use lpt1: \\servername\sharename ”
    command for mapping lpt1 port for dos printing .clients with 2000 are successfully map the the port but xp clients are failed .xp require the administrator rights.but i do’nt want to assign administrator rights to every user.
    please help me to solve the problem

      The example you used makes me believe you are. If so, in WinXP you dont have to implicitly associate a printer on LPT1.

      you can use start \\compname\sharename. It will find the drivers if you they are on a print server, not sure about individual XP machines as i have not tried.
