    Mouse not working through dongle?

I have a Surface Pro 7, and it has an uncomfortably small amount of I/O. I prefer using an external mouse+keyboard as opposed to the one that comes with it. Usually I just have a USB-C to A adapter that I use, but I also want HDMI output, so I bought a dongle that has both another USB-C input as well as an HDMI output. When I tried plugging either the mouse/keyboard, neither of them seemed to be getting power. The dongle I have is the Belkin USB-C to HDMI + Charge Adapter. I understand that it’s marketed to have the new USB-C port be a charging port, but is there absolutely any way to get it to function with a wired USB mouse? Also, If there is a better option for what I’m looking for, I would love to know.

“a USB-C port for power.” is called out and as an electronics designer, it’s not a driver issue. It doesn’t have the hardware.

      Why not some USB-C hub?
