Print button vs. File|Print

By jenc ·
My printer is set to print in reverse. When I go to File|Print in Access 97 (on W2K), it prints in reverse. However, when I use the printer icon in the toolbar, it doesn't print in reverse. Any ideas?

The printer icon is a quick print button and prints using the default printer settings. If you use ctrl+p, or file>print, you can change the default settings, as you have, and store them, but the icon will always override these settings.
Hope thishelps.

Hmm, interesting (no, really). Does it use the default printer settings for both the printer and the document, or just the default settings for the document?

Printer Buttons

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been busy.
As far as I'm aware, any changes you make to the page, i.e. page setup, layout, etc. will remain, itis only the printer settings that are changed.
Try it and find out.

Printers via Startbar

by cnwoods In reply to Print button vs. File|Pri ...

If you've set it to print in reverse from within an application, those settings will be overridden by the printer settings for the system using the print button. Go to Start/Settings/Printers (or control panel/printers in earlier versions of Windows) and right click on your printer, set the properties there. Then NOTHING will override them, except temporarily if you once again make a change via file/print to something different.

Hope this helps.
