Print from Mac OSX to PC

By sid2279 ·
I am having trouble printing from my iBook to my windows 2000 box. I have a Lexmark z25 printer and I have shared it through windows. I found a really great article: http://homepage.mac.com/william_white/print_to_windows.html
and I have followed all the directions. The trouble begins at the step where I use the terminal to locate Windows shares. I am prompted to provide a password and when I do I get the message "NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE". I have verified the usernames and passwords on my windows box. Lots of googling still hasn't turned up an answer. Please help!!!! I know there are others with this problem too.

LPR

Wow, looks complicated. I have another suggestion that is much simpler. On your Windows 2000 station, install Printing Services for Unix. This will enable an lpd-daemon. Now I will assume that the share name of the printer is z25.

On your Mac, download the MacOS X driver for your printer from the www.Lexmark.com website and install it before starting the Print Center.

Then start the Print Center, add a printer, choose LPR as the connection method, enter the IP-address of your PC as the print server and the share name of your printer as the port name. This will look something like:
192.168.0.11:z25
That is it for the connectivity part. Choose the z25 driver you just installed.
Good luck!
