Printer no longer prints after 15mins

By pierrelemieux ·
I installed a new Xerox N2125 printer for a customer using TCP/IP and NDPS. Everything works fine for the first 15 minutes it's on the network, however after that, it no longer prints.

If I print from a networked Windows 98 machine, the printerfolder shows the job is "Printing - 0KB of " and it sits there.

I had to put the printer on an Intel NetportExpress 10/100 to make it work. So, I beleive something is wrong with the NIC on the printer. I think all of our N2125's have this problem.

Has anyone encountered this before? I am waiting for my company's integration lab to get back to me, or hear from Xerox but in the mean time, I was just curious.

Troubleshooting tip: Try parallel port

by Guido Corleone In reply to Printer no longer prints ...

Would it be feasible to connect this printer to a workstation via parallel port (I wouldn't mess with USB right now), and share it on the network. Test it out as a stand alone first, then shared printing peer-to-peer style. The results of this mayindicate a problem with the devices you are using to connect this printer to the network.
Also, check power saving features to make sure that it is not getting stuck in a "standby" mode. You should be able to change these parameters using the menus on the lcd display on the left side of this printer.
You have probably already checked here, but you never know. Xerox knowledge base:
