I've got a problem with my printer recently, it always pop up a message like "the waste ink absorber is almost full." I'm using Canon Pixma ip1200 printer. Any solution to fix the problem ?

There are 1 or 2 sponges under the Print Heads when in the parked position. When these fill up with waste ink the printer will stop working. I don't know about where you are but here in AU Canon doesn't supply replacement sponges for this issue and they flog you a new printer.

However you can pull the upper casing away from the printer and then turn on the printer and when the Print Heads move away from the park position pull the mains lead and then you can remove the pieces of sponge and soak them in hot water to clean them out.

Other than needing to be careful on the amount of sponge that you have sticking out once you refit them there is nothing to worry about. Though this is a very poor design of these otherwise great printers.

There is a counter in the printer that calculateswhen the ink absorber needs to be replaced. You need to reset the counter as well or you will continue to get the messages.
