Stuck print jobs on SBS2003

By Choppit ·
I'm experiencing constant problems with SBS2003 print jobs getting stuck. Restarting the spooler always releases them but this occurs almost daily. Sometimes it occurs if network printers go offline, other times there's no apparent reason.

Any ideas?

shared printer service?

I suggest that you don't use the shared printer service on SBS [like the shared fax service] rather install the printer as a shared printer. Often the SBS boxes purchased [Dell comes to mind] don't have enough memory or processor power, to do many things well at the same time.

So if you can get away with just looking up the printer and sharing it, [listing it in AD] then I would go that route.

Yes, I have been dealling with this problem forever. What I did to fix this....updated all network printer drivers, kill the old que's and recreate. This has made my life much easier.
