Updating local DNS table

Running Win10 Pro on a Dell desktop with an ARRIS BGW210 modem/router. How do I update the DNS table on my local network? When trying to access a device by its name, it isn’t found yet when using the specific IP-address, it is found without a problem. The device name is shown on my LAN’s list of devices.

Maintain the usual hosts file. Here’s one of a thousand tutorials:

Install some DNS server. Most folk won’t do that. But hey, why not?
